Travel Insurance is much more important than you think, and it’s not even that expensive!

Travel insurance is one of those extra expenses that we must all indulge in if we want to look after ourselves properly. But why do some of just forget to do it, or not do it at all? Travel insurance is sometimes greatly overlooked, and this can have monumental consequences.

It can be a very expensive venture if you go on holiday and get injured or robbed without travel insurance. The problem is that, with many young people, including me at one point is that with our youth comes the feeling of invulnerability. The thrill of a holiday can sometimes cast a cloud over young people’s eyes, and they don’t really think about what they are getting themselves into.

We need to think about how a holiday could turn out without travel insurance. You go for an adventure walk or a climb up a mountain, and slip down, injuring yourself quite badly. Hospital expenses cost a dramatically large amount of money, so if you have no insurance, you need to cover it yourself. To make it clear, the minimum travel insurance cover offers around 2,000,000 dollars (1,222,000 GBP).

Holidays are meant to be fun, but to have certain amounts of fun; you have to accept that with fun, comes some risk. The holidays on the rise around this time of year, are Christmas holidays, which probably means skiing holidays. Make sure that if you are going snowboarding you have a decent trainer, but make sure that you have paid even the minimum amount for travel insurance, just to protect yourself. Although this has been a bit doom and gloom, it is to say that Travel insurance, no matter how much it costs (average = £15), so when you think about it, £15 is a lot less than 2 million.
